Will be used by everyone who eats chocolate. Now people eat it in unconscious ways, some are addicted to it, very few people know about the sacral function it had in Mayan Traditions, where it is grown, and where it has been used.
Each barcode of each chocolate bar will publish a receipt that is printed when someone buys the chocolate at the supermarket. The experiences of the shamans taking care of harvesting the cacao plant will be recorded as testimonies and then printed. They will carry the experiences, so that consumers will want to read them to intensify the experience of the eating and to feel connected to the grounds that the chocolate came from.
The testimonies will soon become collector items.

What it looks like: its a database run by an NGO, that is updated monthly, a very detailed collection of histories over time and place, each story is linked to the EAN number of a specific project.

This publishing infrastructure is a ritualistic storytelling prompt for non-stable publishing. By engaging with the different steps of ritual and telling the story to a friend, a tree, a more-than-human you will have published the work.
The different steps of the ritual:
- Feel into a story you want to share that tells of something you have learned, remembered, felt, inherited, dreamt or otherwise
- Think to yourself what are the main elements of the story, main points you want to share in the story
- Approach a friend in real life or with text or phone call, tree or more-than-human nearby
- Ask for consent to share to share your story
- If they consent, carry on; if they're unavailable, ask another being or wait until they give you a later time
- Share your story with the main points you had included, it's been published!

In situation of melting due to climate change in Berlin, we will dismantle standards of publishing towards valuing testimony as a publishing infrastructure and as embodied by the transforming materials around us. It is a temporal infrastructure, only active when it snows or freezes in Berlin.
On the days when frozen things around us are melting, or defrosting, or undoing themselves, there will be a practise by humans and more-that-humans of witnessing what is released from this previously frozen materials. This melting will be the publishing!
People are encouraged to take the day off work and attempt to read the things as they're newly published as they unfreeze.

This oracle is a hands-on card deck in development. It is designed to help us collectively envision and share ideas for what consentful publishing infrastructures might be... or might not.
The game is a way to explore the concept of an algoliterary publishing house. As Anaïs Berck represents a collective of humans, trees and algorithms, the algoliterary publishing house will function within this collective. This means that we will have to rethink all aspects of publishing in collaboration with all entities involved. This raises a series of questions, like: how can questions around ethics and ecology be thought alongside print or online publishing? What does consent mean when working with trees, algorithms and more than humans?
At the right you can read stories that are result from consulting the Oracle for Consentful Publishing Infrastructures.

The Values, Objects and Situations of the Oracle have been inspired by reading texts from the [reader]({filename}/pages/reader.md) and extracting elements from the texts. The deck is unstable and still in development.

We also created a box that can hold the cards and a zine with texts from the [reader]({filename}/pages/reader.md).

Download the plan of the box in [pdf]({static}/pdfs/plan_lasercutter_Oracle.pdf), [dxf]({static}/pdfs/plan_lasercutter_Oracle.dxf) or [3dm]({static}/pdfs/plan_lasercutter_Oracle.3dm) to be executed with a lasercutter.
